YouTube on Android with Bebra PROXY

Tap any country in the grid. With no subscription yet, the tap opens the Buy Bebra V⁠PN screen instead. Paid before? That screen has Already have a subscription? → Sign in to account.

On the first connection Android asks whether Bebra may set up a V⁠PN connection, and you confirm with your screen lock PIN or pattern. A moment later the line under the Bebra V⁠PN header reads Connected to, followed by the country and an IP address, and a Disconnect bar appears at the bottom.

Phones without Google Play, Huawei among them, can install the APK file linked under the download button.

You pick up the phone after a while and the Connected to line is gone. On some Android phones that’s the system’s battery saving at work. The first time it happens, the app brings up a Battery saving pop-up with an Add to exceptions button. Tapping it lets the app ignore battery optimization.

If you closed the pop-up, the same button sits under Account → Settings, in a Battery saving block that only appears while Bebra PROXY isn’t exempt yet.

Background play in the YouTube app is a YouTube Premium benefit, according to YouTube’s help centre, and a PROXY doesn’t change that.

On Android 12 and older, a long bypass list may be applied only in part (the built-in For Russia list in particular). The app then tells you how many entries it used.
